8th Grade Incentive Trip
Toward the end of each year, the 8th-grade team of teachers plans a trip for the 8th-grade class to a venue in the state of Florida. In previous years, students have traveled either to Islands of Adventure in Orlando or Busch Gardens in Tampa. The students have a vested interest and vote on the destination of this trip. THEY DESERVE TO BE INVOLVED! The date and cost will be announced later.
To
qualify for this trip,
Dress Code for Field Trip:
T-shirt provided for all –
Will be distributed the day prior to the trip
Cannot be altered in any way
Length of shorts/skirts still must be dress-code compliant ( no more than 4" above the knee).
Swimwear may be underneath the T-shirt for water rides. T-shirts may be removed while on the water ride but must immediately be put back on after the ride.
Parent Chaperones for Field Trip:
If parents wish to chaperone, they need to contact the school early in the planning stages, which will probably be in December or January. Information will be sent home with students and the School Digest along with a contact person’s name.
In order to qualify to chaperone, he/she must be cleared by the school board. This includes a background check, which costs approximately $26.00. Please contact Mrs. Tucker in the school’s bookkeeping office to initiate the process. It takes about four weeks to process the background check and is valid for two years.
A parent who chaperones is required to ride the bus with the students and must accompany the assigned group for the entire day.
Because this is a school function, the adult’s attire needs to conform to the same expectations as the students.
In addition to own child, the adult chaperone will be assigned additional students.
Students are provided the opportunity to select a group for the day comprised of their friends.
A limited number of trip scholarships are available. Students who qualify to go but cannot afford it are encouraged to speak to Mrs. Cross, Mr. Freddoso, or Mrs. Forbes.
Cost for the Field Trip:
Covers – T-shirt, transportation, ticket
In addition, the student will need additional spending money while at the park (two meals and incidentals or souvenirs).
We encourage parents to begin saving money early for this trip.
If a student becomes ineligible or changes plan for the incentive trip after payment has been made NO refunds will be given.
Expectations for the Field Trip:
This is a reward for students who have worked hard to maintain their grades, have maintained adequate behavior, and have tried to be positive school/community citizens throughout the school year.
This is a time for students to have fun with their peers and celebrate.
If a student misbehaves in any way (fighting, stealing, refusing to follow instructions), he/she will be removed from the group, will sit at the entrance with a staff person until the parent arrives to take him/her home, and will receive no refund.
Long day – from approx. 5:30 AM through 9:00 PM
