7th Grade Classroom Procedures |
A procedure is simply a method or process for how things are to be done. Following procedures helps us succeed!
- Entering the classroom: Please enter quietly and go to your assigned seat. Fill in your planner as directed. Get out any assignment that may be due for the day. Start bell work, if indicated, while teacher takes attendance.
- Sharpening your pencil: Please sharpen your pencil before the second bell. If you need to sharpen your pencil during class, either use your own sharpener, or raise your hand and ask for permission to use the classroom sharpener.
- Storing your belongings: Please place your backpacks well under your desk or at least as much out of the walkway as possible.
- Throwing away trash: All objects remain earthbound. Please throw away all trash on your way out of the room. Do not leave your seat to throw away trash. Do not crumple up paper because this is too noisy and distracting to others. Instead, quietly fold paper into fours and follow the throwing away trash procedure.
- Getting the teacher’s attention: Please raise your hand and I will call on you. I will also raise my hand to get your attention. Please respond to that by ending conversations and silently raising your own hand. Once attention has been given, your hand may come down.
- Lining up (for fire drills, media center, and computer lab): Leave your backpack under your desk. By rows, I will ask you to line up quickly and quietly by the door. Please do not talk in line, stay in single file, and face the door. You will follow me out of the door.
- Leaving the classroom: When the bell rings, please stay seated. I will dismiss you by rows or sections.
- Making up work from absences: When you have returned from your absence, please check the classroom planner, make-up folder or basket, board, or with a study buddy for missed work. Making up missed work is solely your responsibility! Don’t forget to get missed bell work.
- Interactions with your teacher: Please use respectful language. When speaking with a teacher always address them with their title and sir name. Always use complete words when answering, such as “yes,” instead of “yeah,” “please repeat that,” instead of “what.”
- Disagreement with teacher requests: Follow the instructions when given. Any dispute may be discussed privately and in a civil manner.
- Hallway passes: If you need to use the restroom, go to the clinic, or go anywhere else on campus, you must first ask permission from your teacher and have your planner filled out. You may not use anyone else’s planner, so make sure you have it daily.
